The ITTO Project “Strengthening Surveillance and Monitoring to Tackle the Surge in Forest Loss and Land Degradation, Induced by Intensifying Conflict in Thailand’s Border Areas” (PP-A/60-369) is developed to address deforestation and forest degradation and improve the sustainable livelihoods in community forests and remaining forest outside protected areas along the Thailand-Myanmar borders.  The project responds to the displacement of Myanmar’s population into Thailand’s bordering areas due to post-coup violence, particularly in Tak and Mae Hong Son Provinces. This situation not only causes political and humanitarian issues, but it leads to the accelerated degradation of natural forests and jeopardizing biodiversity and nature’s contributions to local communities.
